Thalia Arts Company

A queer history scratch night, featuring scenes from exciting emerging writers and creatives, telling the stories of figures from across the LGBTQIA+ community throughout history. The pieces explored and celebrated connections between queer folk from a whole range of people and time periods. Whether you are a history buff looking for a new perspective, or a complete novice just looking for an evening of queer joy, Thalia Arts will have something for you. We have always been here and we want to celebrate and honour those who lived their queer life before us.
The scratch night featured two programmes of 5 scenes, presented in chronological order, where one of the characters in each scene was a queer figure from history. We gave opportunity to over 35 queer writers, directors and actors to work together, network and be creative. We are now engaging with some of these projects in order to bring them to the next stage of development
Thalia Arts are a company dedicated to queering traditional tropes within the fabric of the production and making process, as well as exploring themes of sexuality explicitly. We bring together queer creatives to create comedic and heart-warming theatre centring LGBTQIA+ people and their day-to-day experiences.
